As indicated by our College Principal, our purpose is to lead, encourage and support students to:
Prepare Today for Tomorrow
Our Junior School, therefore, provides quality education for students from Prep to Year 5. As the students in the junior school are in the pre-adolescence stage of their life, major emphasis is placed on:
their social and emotional development;
their physical development; while ensuring
their academic development is a firm foundation for their future learning.
The Junior School will utilise progressive teaching and learning understandings and methods while building on the strong foundations of our past. In the pursuit of excellence, our Junior School will employ a wide range of teaching and learning situations including:
single year level classes and multi-age classes to enhance our efforts to treat every learner as an individual;
single teacher classes and classes where teachers work co-operatively in their planning, preparation and presentation;
strong links with middle and senior school for specialist advice and support;
effective links with the community and outside agencies; and
a strong partnership with parents.
This home-school partnership is important in the successful growth and development of our students as effective members of society, as community contributors and in their academic pursuits.
In our teaching and learning we will build on our successes of the past using Early Years philosophies, enhancement of resources and support for students who are experiencing difficulties.
Our Behaviour Management is based on the recognition of the expected rights of every member, balanced against the responsibilities of all to earn these rights.
Our level of success will depend on our trust, respect and support for each other (students, parents and teachers) and our ability to clearly communicate with each other.
